Our journey began one Sunday after church, as our founders reflected on ways to raise funds and give back to Lionhearts. Inspired by a shared passion for community service, Jerry proposed hosting a golf tournament—a fun and meaningful way to make a difference. Together, they reached out to their friend Amber Salles, a close friend of Russ Groves, to help bring the idea to life. With Amber’s support, the vision became a reality, creating an event that celebrates community spirit while honoring Russ in a way that reflects his love for life and dedication to serving others.
In their efforts to create a lasting impact, our founders connected with the Recruit Candidate Academy (RCA) at Utah Valley University (UVU). This partnership offered a unique opportunity to support aspiring firefighters, ensuring their journey into the profession is met with encouragement and resources. In memory of Russ Groves, the RG Firefighter Scholarship was established, providing financial assistance to new recruits.
Today, all proceeds from the annual golf memorial tournament are dedicated to funding the RG Firefighter Scholarship. This event not only commemorates Russ’s legacy but also supports the next generation of firefighters, embodying the spirit of service, fun, and giving back.
